About

Vesper Front is the latest signal from Jason Anderson, a Michigan musician who has been making noise for three decades. He cut his teeth in the '90s with Aberrant, then sang, programmed and wrote for the industrial band Delien. Delien worked the Ann Arbor and Detroit club circuit hard, playing the Shelter, the Magic Stick and every late-night room in Hamtramck that would plug them in, and sharing bills with Apoptygma Berzerk, Hanzel und Gretyl and the rest of that era's industrial wave. He and Pete Greko were the only two members on Delien's 1998 album ALH84001 (on Apple Music and Amazon Music), which their friend Marc Breckenridge recorded and produced. A year later he stepped away to go back to school.

He never stayed quiet for long. In the years that followed he kept busy in a run of bands and recorded on his own as THX421, the name he worked under for twenty-five years. He spent several of those years holding down bass for Tri-County Blues. Later he and Marc teamed up to form ABcentric, and together they released PHASE THREE in 2016. The two still write together.

Vesper Front is where all of it comes together: an amalgamation of everything that ever poured out of his speakers. The shimmer and gloom of The Cure, Curve and My Bloody Valentine. The machine pulse of Front Line Assembly, Skinny Puppy, Depeche Mode and New Order. The snarl of the Sex Pistols, the nervous wit of Talking Heads, the heavy roar of the Smashing Pumpkins, and underneath it all the bedrock of The Beatles, Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath.

Working alone in a quiet studio full of tube preamps, tape-era reverbs and forgotten rack synths, he builds songs out of haze, feedback and half-remembered light. While ABcentric carries on, Vesper Front will release select tracks as they're ready, starting with Green Sun.

Something is moving in at dusk.
